Broome County Arena Gets Facelift

A $2.5 million facelift is underway at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

News seats, LED lighting, repairs to the outside stairways, concession upgrades, and new hockey boards are all on the way.

Renovations started two weeks ago and the new look is set to be unveiled at the Disney Live show on August 25th.

The arena manager says the County will be able to save $600,000 in ten years thanks to the lighting upgrades.

"And honestly some people might come in and wonder if they're in the Broome County Arena because it's going to be such a drastic change.  So we're looking forward to giving them that better experience when they come here, not only for hockey but for concerts, family shows, and all the other events we hold here," said Arena Manager Anthony Capozzi.

The first concert ever held at the arena was Bruce Springsteen, followed by Chicago.
