Local Area's Unemployment Rates

More people in the Binghamton area are back at work.

The latest State Department of Labor unemployment rates show  7.5 percent remain unemployed as of May compared to last year when 8.4 percent were out of work.

In Broome County, the unemployment rate is down 0.2 percent from April and in Cheneago County the unemployment rate has dropped from 7.4 in April to 6.9 in May.

Tompkins County has the state's lowest unemployment rate at 5.1 percent.
