Golf not the only thing to do at DSGO

ENDICOTT -- In just 49 days En-Joie Golf Course will play host to some of the PGA's greatest champions during the Dick's Sporting Goods Open.  But while it's first and foremost a golf tournament, Dick's Open Tournament Director John Karedes says it's his goal to make the tournament a week long event.

Sponsored by the Binghamton founded, Dick's Sporting Goods, this tournament is meant to give back to the community and raise money for the Wendy's Walk for Kids Charity in the process.

The 2013 Dick's Sporting Goods Open kicks off on Monday August 12th with the practice rounds and the Event Qualifier at the Links at Hiawatha Landing.  Also on Monday Nancy Lopez speaks at the UHS Pearls of Wisdom.

Tuesday features more practice rounds and the Pro-Am Draw Party at the BU Events Center.

Wednesday kicks off the Pro-Am with a double shot-gun start at 8:00am and 1:30pm.  Ben Witter will host a junior clinic, and the evening is capped off by a Pro-Am Cocktail Party in the VIP Lounge.

More Pro-Am play on Thursday, another double shot-gun start (same times), concludes with the Pro-Am Steak and Lobster Dinner in the VIP Lounge.

Friday begins the official tournament play with the first group teeing off at 9:30.  Then, at dusk, country mega star Tim McGraw takes the stage on the 18th green for the already sold out concert.

Play continues with the second round on Saturday beginning at 9:10, admission is free courtesy of local law firm HH&K.  You won't want to miss Ben Witter's Power Golf Long Drive & Trick Shot Show on Saturday as well.

Championship Sunday sees the final round kick off at 9:10.  The day will feature the Wendy's Walk for Kids at 5:00 and the tournament finishes off with the trophy presentation at approximately 6:00.
