Libous Undergoing Second Round of Chemotherapy

The cancer State Senator Tom Libous has been battling has spread to his lungs and he is now undergoing a second round of chemotherapy.

Libous was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2009 and subsequently underwent his first round of chemotherapy.

He has also started an initiative called "I Turned Pro" to raise awareness of screening for prostate cancer after his diagnosis.

He says he's had good days and bad but has missed very little work, putting in 15-hour days as the legislative session sprints to its finish later this week.

"I've undergone a number of different kinds of treatments and hopefully they continue to be helpful and as they're helpful obviously it does what I want it to do and that's extend my life. That's what the goal is," said Libous.

"He loves what he's doing, he loves the area and he wants to do the best for the area he represents.  I wish him all the best and I hope he is strong enough to continue and get re-elected his next term," said Chris Papastrat, friend of 40 years.

Libous says he will decide his political future in the same manner he always has deciding whether to run again during the election year itself.

Libous is up for re-election in 2014.
