En Joie Golf Course looks ahead to Dick's Open

ENDICOTT -- Monday morning marked 55 days until the 2013 Dick's Sporting Goods Open. As the En-Joie Golf Club welcomed members of the media, there was some reflection on last year, but also a lot of looking forward to the August tournament.

The Dick's Open staff is still working to finalize the field and is trying to bring Tom Watson aboard. However, whether he partakes or not, there is still the promise of some great golf at the Endicott stop on the Champions Tour.

"Last year, unprecedented. Having the top 60 players on the money list all commit to the same event. This year we're well on our way. We're gonna add some names in the next 55 days but I think you're going to see a field that everybody is going to be very, very excited about," said Tournament Director John Karedes.

The competitive field is something that does not concern defending champ Willie Wood. Last year's tournament turned the tides in the golfer's career, and he's hoping for the same result 55 days from now.

Wood explained, "After the win I went on and lost in Seattle. I missed the playoff by a shot and finished third, and then I won in Hawaii a couple weeks after that. It's been quite a springboard for me and I'm hoping that this summer will be just like last summer."
