SWAT Teams Respond to Shooting Incident on City's Northside

A shooting incident in Binghamton's Northside.

Fox 40 was on the scene as a man, apparently under arrest, was taken by police from a house near the corner of Roberts and Virgil Street.

According to police another man was shot in the leg.

The incident brought a massive police response, including SWAT teams to the area, around 2:30 Wednesday afternoon.

Fox 40 talked with residents of the nearby Town and Country Apartments.

"I heard pop, pop, pop, so I got up and was like what the hell was that? Excuse my language, but there's been a lot of shootings over here like there was one over there in that building. And I look out the window and see a bunch of kids and they're saying he's using his gun. And they saw him run that way towards the CVS that's all I saw, that's all I heard," said witness Heather Pasquale.

Students at Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School were dismissed late because of the incident.

Johnson City, Vestal, and Binghamton all provided SWAT team members. Late Wednesday evening, Binghamton detectives told Fox 40 News that formal charges has not yet been filed.
