Path Through History Weekend: Italian Heritage

ENDICOTT -- As part of Broome County's efforts to encourage heritage tourism, a museum gives locals a chance to connect with our past.

In the final "Path Through History" weekend, the Little Italy Heritage Center and Museum gave residents a chance to learn more about Endicott's rich Italian roots.  On display are pictures and artifacts relating to immigrant and domestic life, including old machinery and even shoes from the Endicott Johnson Factory.  The museum also gives locals the opportunity to share their memories of Endicott, and parts of their stories are placed on a walking tour.

"What we intend to do is have a walking tour that focuses on several different buildings and we have reader codes that you can use with your smartphone and as people walk through the northside of Endicott, they'll be able to scan these codes and find info about the buldings, local traditions, and local information about the community," said Archaeologist Lynda Carroll.

if you missed out on the "Path Through History" events this weekend, you can still visit the museum and take a walking tour.
