Tax Free Zones at SUNY

New businesses may spring up on the campuses of SUNY schools, at least that's the hope of Governor Cuomo who announced the schools will be tax-free zones for businesses bringing in new jobs.

The plan is called "Tax-Free NY", which would allow any new business to operate tax free on a SUNY campus for ten years. in all 120 million square feet of tax-free space will be available.

"What do we mean by tax free? We mean tax free. We mean no business taxes, no corporate taxes, no sales tax, no property tax, no franchise, no
income tax," said Governor Cuomo.

According to the Governor's office, 93% of New Yorkers live within 15 miles of a SUNY campus.
