12 Hour Stand Off in South Waverly

A South Waveryly man is in custody after an 12 hour standoff with police.

Police say the call came in around 11:00 Monday night.

They say Timothy Murphy of 44 Williams Street in South Waverly was  holed up in his home with fire arms. 

According to published reports, Murphy told police over the phone he believed them to be enemies of the state and threatened to kill them if they walked onto his property.

He was taken into custody just after 7:00am Tuesday morning.

"It's very scary, because I know just about everybody who lives here in teh town and I know that people that live in that residence there.  I went to school with them as a matter of fact.  It was scary," said Lance Bentley, South Waverly Borough Council President.
