Real Heroes To Be Honored at Red Cross Breakfast

A volunteer firefighter who helped his town's residents survive super-storm Sandy landed in Binghamton Wednesday to help the Red Cross honor real heroes in our area.

Jay Price is a Lieutenant for the Manas-Quan Fire Department in New Jersey and led his team to help evacuate, rescue, and relocate dozens affected by the storm.

He'll be the keynote speaker at a Red Cross breakfast Thursday morning during which the agency will honor local people who have saved lives in the Southern Tier.

Price says his entire community came together after the storm.

"There was never a shortage of help, whether it was from firefighters, police, EMS. Regulars citizens were coming. The Fire Department became a makeshift depot for supplies, for phone chargers," said Jay Price.

Thursday's breakfast at the Holiday Inn Arena in Binghamton begins at 7am.
