Autism Awareness Fair

BINGHAMTON -- Local students are working to help their autistic peers.

Johnson City Students have spent months raising money to buy Ipads for autistic children.  Their efforts culminated in Otsiningo Park Saturday with their Autism Awareness Fair.  Kids got to enjoy face painting, baked goods, arts and crafts, and live music.  The students say they look forward to being able to purchase the Ipads-- which are designed to improve speech.

"They need a voice, and autistic people don't really have a voice.  So we're trying to give them a chance to be able to see the world," said Alexis Blakeslee, a fifth-grader at Johnson City Intermediate School.

The Ipads will be donated to autistic children at boces oak tree program.
