Rich David Back in the Race for Binghamton Mayor

Rich David is officially back in the race for Binghamton's top spot.

David owns businesses in downtown Binghamton and served as Deputy Mayor under Rich Bucci.

The 36 year old pulled out of the race in February because he said he was afraid delayed tax payments on one of his businesses would serve as a distraction.

He says many residents asked him to reconsider and re-enter the race and that is why he made his formal announcement Thursday evening.

We asked David if he thought his delayed payments could still affect his run.

"I don't.  All I'm going to focus on is who I am, what my plan is, why I'm the most qualified person and what my vision for the city is and the other candidates can focus on whatever it is they want to focus on," said Rich David, candidate for Binghamton Mayor.

David is currently the public affairs officer at Broome Community College. He says he will take a leave of absence after graduation .  He says he will also be selling his bar Flashbacks on State Street.  He will challenge Ed Hickey in a primary election.  Terri Renia is the only democrat to declare her candidacy.
