Vestal School Districts Awaiting Budget Approval from the Public

The Vestal School District has done its part, now its waiting to see if the public will say yes to the budget has been approved by the board.

Vestal Superintendent Mark LarRoach says that under the circumstances, he's  pleased with how the school board arrived at the budget, but not pleased that once again, it included cuts.

This year's budget is set at $73.4 million with a tax levy increase of 2.95%, well under the maximum tax cap of 3.45%. LaRoach hopes the district voters approve it:

"It's dangerous to speculate and it is my hope that the public is understanding of what it takes to educate young people and residents of Vestal have been very supportive in the past," LaRoach said.

A public hearing on the budget will be held on May 14th at the Clayton Ave. Elementary School auditorium. The public vote will be May 21st.
