Changes to Story Garden at The Discovery Center

BINGHAMTON -- The community is pitching in to enhance a popular play area for local children.

The Story Garden at the Discovery Center is getting a new sprinkler system.  They received a grant from the Malloy Family Foundation, and volunteers from the Enjoie Golf Course started installation this weekend. Staff say the new setup means less time watering plants and more time to improve the area for kids.

"We're anticipating an increasing amount of flower potential, flower power, with the sprinkler system.  Things will be happier because they'll be getting just the right amount of water," said Nancy Hargrave, Story Garden Supervisor.

"I've got two young children and they enjoy it up here so it really feels good to give back," said  Rocco Grecco, supervisor of Enjoie Golf Course.

The work is expected to be completed over the next few weeks. If you would like to help out, you can call the discovery center at 607-773-8661.
