Vestal's 21st Century to Close Next March
4/4/2013 (Updated 6:48:40 PM)Another shutdown of a local business.
The 21st Century Auto Insurance call center at University Plaza in Vestal will close its doors next March.
225 people are employed there. Around 170 of the workers will be offered jobs at other call centers in Delaware, Michigan, Florida, and Arizona.
Still others might be able to continue their employment locally, through a work-at-home program.
The facility is run by Farmers Insurance of Los Angeles.
It acquired 21st Century from AiG in 2009.
When AIG first moved into the space 14 years ago, the state offered the corporation several million dollars in incentives to set up shop in what was then a vacant space.
