Funeral for Mario Masciarelli
3/29/2013 (Updated 6:55:08 PM)Hundreds of friends and family came out to say goodbye to Mario Masciarelli, who, along with Christina Rumpel Powell, was killed in the double homicide a week ago in the Town of Binghamton.
The calling hours and funeral were held at the Assembly of God Church in Binghamton.
Friends described the 24-year-old Susquehanna Valley High School graduate as a wonderful person who knew how to lift anyone's spirits.
"He was funny. He was so funny. We had a lot of laughs together. He was just fun to joke around with and I'm going to miss not seeing him around anymore," said close friend Emily Martin.
Masciarelli's family asks for any donations in Mario Masciarelli's memory be made to Susquehanna Valley High School Dollars for Scholars.
Christina Rumpel Powell's estranged husband Aaron Powell is charged with two counts of Second-Degree Murder in the deaths of Rumpel Powell and Masciarelli.
There will be a bail hearing for Powell in Broome County Court on Monday morning.
