Why Teri Rennia Has Decided to Run
3/21/2013 (Updated 10:49:30 PM)In late January, Rennia said she was considering it-- well on Thursday, the Democrat officially announced she want's that seat.
In front of family and friends, the current City Council President said she has the government background and business experience to turn Binghamton around.
Rennia and her husband own the business Enviren on State Street. She says as a business owner she will bring more creative and innovative ways to help revive the economy.
Rennia decided to run after speaking with a friend who wanted to move her children out of the area to give them better opportunities. Through this conversation, she says she knows what needs to change and she thinks she can do it.
"I came down to strong neighborhoods, economic opportunity, fixing infrastructure," said Teri Rennia. It comes down to basic's--you know--crime reduction, basic things."
No one else has declared themselves a candidate in this race. For a short time business owner Rich David was considered a strong Republican contender but he recently announced he's not running this time around.
