Free Meals for Seniors
3/19/2013 (Updated 11:29:37 PM)Nearly one in ten seniors in America suffers from poor nutrition-- and the nation's largest assisted living provider is helping to combat that problem.
Emeritus Senior Living will be delivering more than 10-thousand complimentary meals to seniors across the US for the months of March and April for National Nutrition Month.
Woodland Manor and Woodland Place here in the Binghamton area are serving local seniors --and visiting with those who don't get out of their homes very often:
"I'd like a steak. they brought me a delicious steak lunch. In fact I'd like to hire the cook! It's wonderful to have a phone call and say a meal is on its way. but, I'm a good cook also. I like to cook myself," said 86-year old Jimmie Langeon.
86-year old Langeon says lifestyles are much different than 60 years ago-- and often calls up food producers to ask that they don't put as much salt and sugar in their products.
Since her open heart surgery in December she's been extra mindful of her health.
