Zumbathon To Benefit Porcari Family
3/14/2013 (Updated 10:52:29 PM)A few Zumba instructors hope to raise the spirits of a community affected by tragedy.
In honor of fallen Owego Fire Captain Matthew Porcari, a group called The Owego Girlz will hold a three hour Zumbathon to benefit the Porcari Children's Memorial Fund and the Owego Fire Department. They hope a few hours of dancing will raise money for a good cause and leave participants with a smile.
"You don't have to have dance experience to partake in this event. Just come out and follow our lead and we promise you will have a great time," said Sarrah Lewis, Zumba Instructor.
"Just being there for the community and just being there for Matthew and his family, you know, just thinking about him that day-- the energy's going to be so strong in that room. It's going to be great," said Sarah Fahl, Zumba Instructor.
The event takes place this Sunday at the Tioga Boys and Girls Club located in Owego. The cost is $20 at the door. If you can't attend but want to donate email Owegogirlz@gmail.com.
