Students Air Radio Messages To Help Kids Stay In School

Local students are going on-air to help their peers stay in school.

A group of students at  BOCES Evertech High School gathered together on Thursday to celebrate their participation in a project designed to reduce the high school drop out rate.  The students have voiced their personal reasons for staying in school on WSKG Radio as a part of the "American Graduate: Let's Make It Happen" project.

"I think it's important to get a high school education because you want to get a good job, make a little money in life," said BOCES student Dillan Cook.

"Hopefully fewer people will drop out but at least we can start a conversation about what's working and what's not working in schools. And I think it's a great place to start," said Jacqueline Franke, an English teacher at BOCES.

The students' stories can be heard on-air on WSKG Radio throughout this month.
