BU Holds Racism Forum

Students of all races gathered in the University Union on Wednesday to come together to show the University is united against racism. Wednesday's forum was to plan a response to combating racism on campus. It came together after a racial slur was shouted at a graduate student while he was leaving his apartment on Main Street downtown.

Students say they are thrilled with the turnout of Wednesday's event.

"People don't feel like they have someone on their side to fight for them so I think this forum is the first step to letting people know you're not alone and things like this do happen to the rest of us and it's not okay we won't stand for it," Chanee Cameron a senior at BU.

"By gathering around this many people we can basically open up to them and explain to them that the situation is still real and it's still going on today," said Nouha Saeed, a senior at BU.

Students say they hope to make a difference at the University and throughout the City of Binghamton as well.
