No More Stuck Trucks on Front Street?
3/6/2013 (Updated 3/7/2013 8:41:38 AM)It is now official: the road on the Clinton and Front Street intersection will be lowered to keep trucks from getting stuck under the bridge.
The Binghamton Metropolitan Transportation Study Policy Committee approved the project Wednesday as a part of its 2013-2014 work program.
The project will be 100 percent federally funded. And representatives say they expect construction to be underway by 2014.
"That has been a huge problem, almost on a weekly basis, I think, some truck hits that railroad bridge there at Front and Clinton, so by lowering the roadway under that should take care of that," said Cyndi Paddick, BMTS Director.
Other projects that the BMTS approved include a study of natural gas-powered vehicles for Broome County Transit, and improving pedestrian-bike safety.
