UPDATE - Suspect in CVS robbery apprehended

UPDATE

According to police, John Malowsky, 62, was arrested by the Tioga County Sheriff's Department in connection with Thursday night's armed robbery of an Owego CVS.

Reports state that Malowsky was seen fleeing the scene and proceeded to threaten Deputies with a knife when approached.

Police say he is also thought to be responsible for the recent robberies of Dark Tan in Corning, NY and Maurice's in the Town of Big Flats.

He will be arraigned in Tioga County and also faces charges for the other robberies in Chemung and Steuben Counties.

An apparent armed robbery Wednesday night at the CVS store on Main Street in Owego.

Fox 40 was the only TV news on the scene, and we obtained this exclusive video, as police were loading a person who appeared to be a suspect, into an ambulance with bandages and wounds clearly visible.

Police are not releasing any official information yet, but scanner traffic indicated that the suspect was believed to have a gun--and did display a knife-- when police apprehended him.

The injuries were apparently from police baton strikes as the suspect was captured.  The suspect is believed to have run away from the CVS on foot, and was apprehended at the intersection of Temple and North Avenue.

No other injuries have been reported at this time.
