Robot Ends Police Standoff in Windsor

A Windsor man is under arrest after a standoff with police ended late Monday night.

Police responded to the residence of 45-year-old Jose Gonzalez at 42 Bennett Road about 4:00pm Monday afternoon.

A neighbor told police he heard what he thought was a single gunshot.

After negotiations failed and using a robot and camera to see inside the home, police entered just after 11pm, saying they found Gonzalez hiding in a bedroom closet.

Gonzalez is charged with Menacing, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

Gonzalez is in Broome County jail.
