Kopernik Holds Star Party

It might not have been the clearest night for star gazing--but that didn't stop a crowd from gathering at the Kopernik Observatory and Science Center for a winter star party.

Kids completed space themed crafts and NASA scientist Michelle Thaller was on hand to discuss dark matter.  She says despite popular belief --most of the universe is made of dark matter and regular matter only composes 4% of the universe.

"Why is it that we think almost all the univesr is made of this stuff?  We are not even made of the same material most of the universe is.  The joke we have is that there's dark matter an what we're made of is 'doesn't matter,'" says Michelle Thaller, scientist at NASA.

On Sunday, Thaller will be speaking at BU's TEDx Conference.  The conference brings in various speakers to teach students how to put their ideas to work.
