Greek Life Coalition Report
2/22/2013 (Updated 11:03:56 PM)Almost a year after it halted fraternity and sorority pledging over hazing concerns, only to reinstate it weeks later, Binghamton University has received a report from a campus coalition to improve Greek life at the school.
The report's recommendations include a look at alternatives for on-campus Greek life housing, working with downtown businesses and city hall, and working with the governing councils to create a shared *definition* of hazing and develop positive alternatives.
"So we've been pretty active, and certainly are in tune with any concerns that would come across my desk, or that of others. And we're prepared to move forward," said Associate Vice President of Student Affairs, Lloyd Howe.
The report states that both men and women involved in Greek life graduate at higher rates than those who don't.
