More Arrests in Mail Theft/Check Cashing Ring

Six more defendents charged in a stolen mail/counterfeit check cashing ring pled guilty in federal court.

They were part of a criminal operation that spanned Syracuse, Binghamton and Oswego.
 
Authorities say that the ring was based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and recruited homeless people and drug addicts.

They would cash corporate checks stolen out of mail boxes of local businesses, including some in Binghamton.

In November of 2010,  18-thousand dollars was thrown from a vehicle by members of the ring  during a high speed with postal inspectors and Dewitt police.

In addition to the latest  six who pled guilty, three others have aready entered guilty pleas and are awaiting sentencing.
The defendents face up to thirty years in prison, and a million dollar in fines.
