Choco-Mania on Valentine's Day
2/14/2013 (Updated 10:53:20 PM)
Hundreds of hungry customers came out to Fuddy Duddy's fudge shop in Owego today, looking for last-minute Valentine's Day gifts. The store had over 50 pounds of fudge, and hundreds of truffles and cookies.
Cooks say the most popular items are the truffles and chocolate covered strawberries.
"I'm so proud i can do something for people, they enjoy to eat," said gourmet cook Suwanee Wilkinson.
Store owners say mostly men are coming in today.
"They walk in and you can see the look in their eyes-- help me! and we do," said McFadden.
Store owners say sales quadruple the week of Valentines Day. But not all customers are shopping for a romantic partner.
"My wife died about a year ago, and my daughter in laws have given me grandchildren. So I'm happy...that's what matters. Valentines Day-- I've always enjoyed it," said customer Frank Sladish.
And others aren't buying treats for anyone else.
"I already bought something for my wife today, so i just came in for me," said one customer.
