Police Warn of Letter Scam

State police in Gibson are warning citizens in the Great Bend area to beware of a letter scam.

They say that residents have been getting letters telling them that they have won a consumer promotion drawing from stores in the U.S. and United Kingdom.

The letters come with an enclosed check for $2,850. But, because the drawing was supposedly in the U.K., the winners must send a tax due amount of $1,920 by MoneyGram or Western Union.

Police urge residents not to cash the check or send any money.  If you receive such a letter, call  state police at 570-465-3154.
