Ashes on the Go

Didn't have time to go to a Lenten service to get your ashes Wednesday?

Well you could have gotten them on the go.

Two priests from the Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church in Binghamton took to the sidewalk Wednesday morning to offer ashes and a prayer to anyone who wanted to partake in the christian custom that starts Lent.

Ashes on the go began in St. Louis in 2007 but is the first time it was brought to Binghamton streets.

"We need to bring this to the world, not just keep it within our doors and we have been overwhelmed this morning with folks coming by from all kinds of demoniations who have breally appreciated the fact that we are out here and offering this to folks." said Rev. David Drebert.  Director of Trinity Memorial Espicopal Church..

According to Rev. Drebert the church hosted around 60 people in the hour they were outside Wednesday and plan on making this an annual event.
