Area Cheerleaders Compete at BU

More than 1000 people came out to watch high school cheerleaders show off their moves on Sunday.

20 teams at the varsity and junior varsity level competed in the Southern Tier Athletic Conference Cheerleading Competition.  The teams' routines were judged on technique, stunting, safety, and overall impression.

"They work hard every year and the Just keep getting better and better.  And the talent is just unbelievable," said Jennifer Lesko, STAC Competition Coordinator.

"Adrenaline just took over, and when the adrenaline takes over you just sell it.  You just go hard and sell it!" said Jamie Childs, a cheerleader from Seton Catholic Central High School.

In the varsity division, Union-Endwell placed first, Johnson City second and Seton Catholic Central came in third.
