Dinner Benefit for Matthew Pocari

A benefit for the family of Owego Fire Captain Matthew Porcari, who died last month fighting a blaze in Newark Valley.

This Sunday from one until four, at the Park View Restaurant in Owego, a dinner benefit will be held to raise money for his family.

The Pocari's home was damaged by the flood of 2011, the proceeds of the benefit will go towards fixing their home.

There will be a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle, and plates will be eleven dollars apiece with discounted prices for kids. 

"A lot of people want to help we think that it became abigger cause in our minds and it made us really think about all the firemen that are out there and what they do for us," said Owner of Park View, Beth Johnson.

"Just to honor his name by doing these different benefits that we have going on its been an outpouring of support from the community," said Matthew Pocari's Uncle, Lee Dunham.

The next  benefit will be a March 24th concert, in Owego,  with country song writer and singer Paul Cummings.
