STAR Tax Exemption

Seniors in the City of Binghamton could be in line for more savings on property taxes with an enhanced star exemption.

Seniors over sixty five can qualify for an enhanced exemption, or others, that could save seniors up to 50 percent off of their property taxes.  However, to get these exemptions, seniors must apply for them each year with the city.

"The partial exemption is strictly for the city. You have to check with your own municipality for each of the exemptions to make sure they have the exemptions and what their limits are," said Diana Shores of the City of Binghamton Assessment Office.

Seniors in Binghamton with any questions can call the City's assessment office at 772-7002, or stop by their office on the second floor of City Hall.
