Olympic Medalist discusses Health, Wellness, and Community

A day after former Olympic gymnast Shannon Miller was hospitalized for dehydration, she was back in action Tuesday.

Miller talked about the important of health and living an active lifestyle.  She was part of a round-table discussion called Health, Wellness and Community Partnership at the Binghamton University Downtown Center.  Miller says it was a great opportunity for health organizations to come together and learn from one another.

"The point is that people should be educated so they know that there is help out there if they need it whether it's nutrition, general health, or getting to their doctors appointments for those screenings and tests.  They can reach out, and I think it's all about awareness," said Miller.

Miller collapsed yesterday while giving a speech at BU's Celebrating Women in Athletics luncheon.  She blames morning sickness due to pregnancy and a cold to leading to dehydration.
