Celebrating National Pancake Day

VESTAL -- Tuesday was National Pancake Day at IHOP.

Free short stacks of pancakes were given to customers, who are encouraged to make a donation to the Children's Miracle Network.  The network raises money for nonprofit children's hospitals across the country and in Canada.

IHOP hopes to raise $3 million, while the location on the Vestal Parkway hopes to contribute $4,500.

"It feels great.  It's like you're ready for it every year, the staff gets excited, customers get excited, we're just ready to go," said Heather Strohl, General Manager, IHOP.  "It's the one thing a year we do to help out."

To handle National Pancake Day, the IHOP on the Parkway was at full staff ready to turn  more than 500 pounds of batter into pancakes.  The Vestal location expected to give out at 1,500 pancakes.
