(Source: Kate Thornton)"Me and my buddies started home brewing. We started brewing in the basement and then it went from us brewing once a month to three times a month to the point where we were like we should open a brewery because all our friends said we brew really good beers," said Pedley.
And now, a few years later, The North Brewery is set to open at 110 Washington Avenue in Endicott February 15th.
It's the newest microbrewery in the Southern Tier and something that's been a growing trend in the area.
"A lot of people want to drink craft beer. I feel like the industry is moving towards fine beer being looked at like a fine wine and its just been so exciting to see thus in the area," said Pedley.
Part of that is thanks to Governor Andrew Cuomo passing legislation at the beginning of the year. The new legislation helps wineries and microbrewery with tax breaks and incentives. It also allows them to break contracts with large wholesale distributors.
"You don't have to be part of the big three in the United States to be well known and have good craft beer," said Pedley.
Not to mention new businesses is exactly what Endicott has been striving for to revitalize the Avenue, even it's with one pour at a time.
