"Books as Art" in Binghamton
2/2/2013 (Updated 10:46:04 PM)BINGHAMTON -- You wouldn't find these books in a library..
The "Books as Art" exhibit in Downtown Binghamton features work from 35 artists from across the country. Artists held a reception to answer visitors' questions about the pieces-- each telling a different story in the pen, of paper, bamboo, photos, and even quilts.
"It invites readers in then it ambushes them. The subject matter packs a punch. That's something you can only do in a book. A painting, a structure-- you wouldn't be able to do that," said artist Maureen Cummins.
The artists say that books as art is a growing field within the art world.
