"I think Super Bowl is really more a day of grazing," says Kevin Daviau, Executive Chef at Wegmans in Johnson City.
And what kind of super bowl party would it be without wings?
"We have about 15 to 18 kinds of wings, all sorts of different flavors and styles of wings," says Daviau
According to the National Chicken Council 1.23 billion wings will be consumed during the big game.
Nirchi's in Binghamton is prepared to serve a few thousand of those..
"I think, last year, it was around 4-5,000 wings and several hundred pizzas," says Gary Hutchings, manager of Nirchi's on Main St. in Binghamton.
Hutchings says its one of their busiest days of the year and takes a week to prepare.
"Pre-orders start coming in on Monday usually of this week and then our preperations start Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, right up all the way until Saturday night," says Hutchings.
But the perfect wing takes just 8 minutes to cook.
"Most people like them crispy, well done, not too much sauce," says Hutchings.
Although no New York teams will be on the field Sunday, he doesn't anticipate fewer celebrations.
"No, I think more people like the party and food aspect than the game itself now a days. It's more of a holiday than a football game," says Gary Hutchings, manager of Nirchis, Binghamton.
