BU Pharmacy School Update

SUNY leaders gathered in Cortland  on Wednesday to pursue ways that schools within the system can share services, in order to save $100 million dollars over the next three years. That money would then be re-invested into student services.

While at Cortland, BU President Harvey Stenger also talked about the University's efforts to create a pharmacy program. He says it would be the only such program within two-and-a-half hours of drive time to Binghamton.

The curriculum could be ready within a few years.

"After that in terms of hiring faculty we'll start that a little bit earlier, having the first student admitted in three years. I think that would be a great goal. Maybe a little bit sooner than that," said Stenger.

Stenger says both the State Department of Education and Pharmacy Board have to approve the curriculum of the new school.
