Bucci: Stage Set for Increased Enrollment in Catholic Schools

It's Catholic School Week in Broome County and while enrollment has decreased over the past few years, officials feel the foundation is in place to increase enrollment...

Recent consolidations have left the system with three elementary schools, with 7th- and 8th-grade classes moving to the high school.

Seton Catholic Central Principal Richard Bucci says this has stabilized the Broome County Catholic school system, giving parents confidence.

"Our objective is to grow enrollment and part of that is the fact that we have a stable system on the horizon. There's no talk about any future closings or consolidations," said Bucci.

Bucci says Catholic schools in broome county are susceptible to the drop in the overall school-age enrollment  that the local public schools are facing.
