Police: Fake Bomb Part of Jewelry Store Robbery

The Broome County Sheriff's Department made an arrest in connection with the robbery of Ruby and Sons Jewelers on Upper Front Street Friday.

20 year old Ty Tumminia of Binghamton is accused of entering the jewelry store and displaying what appeared to be an explosive device while ordering employees to empty a display cabinet.

The device was discovered to be inert when it was recovered a short distance from the scene by the Endicott Bomb Squad.

Tumminia was located by detectives Monday and was remanded to Broome County Jail without bail.
