Several Tractor Trailer Accidents Today on Icy Roads

Snow, sleet, freezing rain, rain-, we saw it all here in the Southern Tier and it caused quite a headache for anyone on the roadways.

There were scores of crashes and mishaps all around the area Monday.

Near the I-81 exit near Gibson around 11 Monday morning a tractor trailer and an SUV were in a smash-up.

Both the truck and the car were off the road, with the driver trapped for a time in the SUV.

He was extricated, and taken from the scene by ambulance.

Further up along I-81 North between Exit One and the PA border,  we found a tanker truck and a tractor trailer had crashed into each other and both went off the road.

Police say this too was weather related, and the the big rigs took out several small trees along the side of the highway. There are no reported injuries.

And not far away from Exit One on 81 North we saw a tractor-trailer that had jacknifed and ended up on  an enbankment and hillside.

Lots of hazardous conditions Monday.
