Investigation of Fatal Newark Fire Closed

The investigation into the cause of the fire that took the life of Owego Fire Captain Matthew Porcari is now concluded.

Investigators say Monday night's fire at 871 Chamberlin Road in Newark Valley was caused by a power supply strip and lights that were plugged into it in a rabbit shed adjacent to the house.

The event was accidental, with the fire spreading from the shed to the house.
