Cause of Newark Fire Released

The cause of that Newark Valley fire that killed one firefighter and injured another late Monday night has been determined.
 
Investigators say it was caused by electrical wiring in a wooden storage shed which was just ten feet from the ranch-style house on Chamberlain Road.

Winds cause the blaze to spread quickly to the home.  Owego Fire Captain Matthew Porcari died, after falling into the basement when the floor collapsed.

Calling hours are Saturday at noon, the funeral on Sunday at two.  Both will be held at the Owego Middle School gymnasium.
