Local Scouts participate in Pinewood Derby

Did you ever want to be a racecar driver when you were a kid, but you weren't old enough to drive?

You didn't have to be in Endicott on Wednesday.

This was the action at Gault Toyota, as red hot drivers from Cub Scout Pack 234 in Endicott tore up the track.

The event, sponsored by Gault Toyota, had the driver's skills honed to a razor's edge, and the cars, tuned for victory.

"It's just really fun and nice.  It's a great opportunity for any boy scout or boy to meet up with friends, talk, watch their cars race, and find out what they get. Just have a really nice time, and be able to have it with scouts that are younger than you, make a good role model, says Brandon Barnes, Johnathan Rockwell, and Keith Dellapenta  of Boys Scouts, Pack 234

Some of the young drivers dads told us their kids liked designing and building, and racing their model cars even better than any electronic toys they got for Christmas.
