Police: Phony Name Leads to Real Charges

Police say a false name is leading to very real charges for a woman arrested Sunday in the Town of Maine.

Broome County Sheriff's Deputies say 48-year-old Karrie Ann Vester, who has no permanent address, provided them with a false name as they were investigating the theft of a cell phone.

When deputies discovered Vester's true identity they say they found her to be a fugitive from justice from North Dakota.

Vester is in Broome County Jail while awaiting extradition to North Dakota.
