MacArthur School Flood Update

BINGHAMTON -- It's been well over a year since children filled the halls and classrooms of MacArthur Elementary after the 2011 flood.

But the process to rebuild the school continued Tuesday night.
The Binghamton Board of Education listened to proposals from Ashley McGraw Architects regarding the new school's heating and air conditioning systems.  Maura Kammerman, Board of Education President, says that the new building will be much greener than the current one.

"Much more environmentally friendly.  The design, the materials, what they're using, which systems, so they will make proposals to us," Kammerman said.  "It seems like they're moving at a much faster pace now that they have the funding.  So, we're excited."

The final proposal of the school is expected to be completed in March.  Binghamton residents will vote to approve the plans for the new school on April 15th.
