Schumer Comments on Assault Weapons Ban

While at Greek Peak, Senator Schumer commented on a number of issues before congress, including gun violence.
 
Schumer said the debate needs to meet in the middle. Those on the left need to realize the Second Amendment right to bear arms is just as valid as other rights in the constitution. Those on the right, need to realize there are limits on the rights in all amendments to the constitution, said Schumer.

"So the Second Amendment has a reasonable limit and here's the limit I would seek I don't think any felon, mentally ill person, or person who has a history of spousal abuse should be aloud to have a gun. And we should make sure that happens, but everyone else if they want to have a gun should be aloud," said Schumer.

He said he is not sure what to expect from Vice President Biden's task force on curbing gun violence. Biden said the group will release recommendations by Tuesday.
