Final Steps for National Pipes and Plastics

The PVC pipe maker is moving their pipe making operations from Vestal Road to a 45 acre site at Mills and Frey Avenues.
Area residents have protested the move saying the company uses harmful chemicals and that the factory will bring more traffic and noise to the area.
President David Culbertson says he doesn't believe traffic will increase greatly and doesn't anticipate noise to be heard outside the factory walls.
He says PVC pipes are also made mainly with non toxic ingredients.
"We are using materials that are the cleanest, safest, healthiest, most environmentally sound on earth. PVC is used in medical tubing, delivering medication and food, nutrients directly into the veins of medical patients in hospitals all over the world," says David Culbertson, President of National Pipe and Plastic.
They hope to start making pipes at the Town of Union location by this June.
He says part of the Vestal location will still be used for company offices.
