DWI Holiday Crackdown Nabs 20

Local officers kept a careful eye on the roads to make sure those who celebrated the holidays a bit too much didn't get behind the wheel.

From December 12 until January 1st, several Broome County agencies conducted checkpoints and patrolled the roads.
More than 1500 cars were screened,  and authorities made about twenty D-W-I arrests.

"We are continuously involved in the enforcement of D-W-I laws.  We're not just about these specific time periods.  We're simply utilizing separate funds to supplement overtime costs.  The Office of the Sheriff is committed to this message, and committed to enforcing D-W-I laws in the state of New York for one reason: to keep the streets safe," said Captain Frederick Akshar, of the Broome County Sheriff's Office.

The next D-W-I  crackdown will be during the SUPERBOWL IN FEBRUARY.
